Why Yes for Yas
Charlottesville, the "happiest city in the world" with 50,000 residents that occupy 10.26 square miles of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The At-Large General Election will determine the infrastructure of the council, electing two councilors. Yas Washington is a politico turned politician with grassroots to the community as she strives to become the next councilor of Charlottesville! Yasmine has a vision for Greater Charlottesville with a competitive trio that encases development, equity and sustainability. She takes initiatives to bridge the divides in the community with equitable solutions for low-income individuals and families. Yasmine graduated from Albemarle High School with a 3.5 GPA in Advanced Studies. Soon after she acquired background in Consumer Housing offering affordable options as an Administrative Assistant for Albemarle Housing Improvement Program at Park's Edge Apartments. After 2017 her activist roots inspired her to start Rocket Science Integrated, which since has transitioned from a movement to a grassroots organization. Rocket Science uses art purposefully by using it as a medium to both heighten awareness and encourage cultural diversity. Transitioning from an activist to a politico began while working for Jim Hingeley for Commonwealth Attorney with a progressive Criminal Justice Reform vision then for Dr. Cameron Webb for Congress with a primal focus to address Public Health through healthcare accessibility. Yasmine is passionate about providing mobility to disadvantaged groups, typically considered to be at-risk due to socio-economic classifications or determinants. She worked as a Youth Counselor for Human Services supervising errant adolescents with referrals from the court. Voting Yes for Yas supports enhancing the quality of living for all residents with budget oversight, project management and approved policies.
